On July 18, 2006 the Testaverde Fund for Spinal Cord Injury in collaboration with Wheels2Water hosted a surfing event at Ditch Plains in Montauk, New York.
Stu Foley of Air & Speed Surfshop in Montauk provided volunteers who transported the paralyzed surfers and their equipment down to the beach. Using specialized wheel chairs, surfers were wheeled into the water onto a custom made surfboard provided by Air & Speed Surfshop. Volunteers tirelessly helped three people into the water to surf. The event drew a sizable crowd which allowed members of the Testaverde Fund for Spinal Cord Injury an opportunity to speak with spectators about our foundation and its mission.
The enthusiasm and excitement of our surfers was contagious and inspiring. We thank all who participated and look forward to seeing you again at our next event.
